A first-ever 100-miler looping the rolling Monts du Lyonnais
Other trail races within 129 miles
New for the race's 25th edition in 2027, the 160km des Coursières takes the long-running Monts du Lyonnais ultra to the full 100-mile format. The 163 km loop starts Friday morning in Saint-Martin-en-Haut and heads north and west through villages such as Courzieu, Brussieu and Haute-Rivoire before swinging south to the Pomeys life base and back over the hills to the finish, with about 6,300 m of climbing and a night on course. The terrain is low-altitude rolling hill country on trails and country paths rather than alpine mountains, which the organisers pitch as a way to reach the 100-mile mark before tackling steeper mountain ultras. Runners get 40 hours, with nine intermediate time barriers, eight full aid stations and a drop bag at Pomeys. The full route is kept private until the roadbook is released to entrants in spring.
