Five laps over Kennesaw Mountain, and one of them may come with a pumpkin
Other trail races within 179 miles
A free, members-only club run put on by the Georgia Ultrarunning and Trailrunning Society. Runners cover five loops of roughly 10K around Kennesaw Mountain, northwest of Atlanta, passing one aid station at the start/finish area on every lap. Each runner brings a pumpkin to the start. After two loops, a runner may draw one at random and carry it for a loop to the top of the mountain and back. Rocky, step-like climbs and descents share the loop with a fast stretch of paved downhill, so the course wears on the legs more than its modest distance suggests. Because of permit limits, the club classes the day as a run and not an official race.
