Other trail races within 69 miles
A 40 km point-to-point from Martigny-Combe in Switzerland to Chamonix, over the Col de la Forclaz and the Col de Balme and down through Argentière. It is not open to the general public: bibs go to local residents of the Mont-Blanc valleys (58%), UTMB volunteers (30%), partners (10%) and journalists (2%). No Running Stones or UTMB Index are needed. It runs entirely in daylight so volunteers can still work their shifts the rest of the week. The time limit is 10 hours, and no crew help is allowed on course.

Late August around Mont-Blanc can bring anything. The valleys (Chamonix about 1,035 m, Courmayeur about 1,220 m) often see 20–30 °C days, while the passes above 2,000 m can drop below freezing at night, and the organizers warn of temperatures down to −10 °C, with rain, hail or snow possible. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, and weather can force course changes or delays.
