A 60 km point-to-point with about 3,500 m of climbing from Orsières, in the Val d'Entremont of Switzerland's Valais, to Chamonix. The route climbs to Champex-Lac, crosses to Trient, then goes over the Col de Balme into France, with Tête de Balme (2,321 m) the high point of the course redesigned for 2026. It then drops through Vallorcine, climbs the Col des Posettes, passes Le Tour and follows the balcony trails above the Chamonix valley to the finish arch in town. It is the 50K final of the UTMB World Series, entered by lottery with a Running Stone and a valid UTMB Index. No crew help is allowed anywhere on course.

Late August around Mont-Blanc can bring anything. The valleys (Chamonix about 1,035 m, Courmayeur about 1,220 m) often see 20–30 °C days, while the passes above 2,000 m can drop below freezing at night, and the organizers warn of temperatures down to −10 °C, with rain, hail or snow possible. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, and weather can force course changes or delays.
