A 300 km team adventure around Mont-Blanc on a route that changes every year
Other trail races within 69 miles
La Petite Trotte à Léon is a team mountain journey more than a race. Teams of two or three cover about 300 km and 25,000 m of climbing through the middle and high mountains of France, Italy and Switzerland, on a route that changes every year and that teams navigate themselves by GPS with organizer-supplied waypoints. It is semi-autonomous: teams rest and eat at checkpoints and partner refuges, carry a shared emergency shelter, and any outside help means disqualification. Teammates must stay together, and a two-person team retires if one member drops. There is no ranking, and the limit is 151 hours. Entry is by application, judged on each member's mountain experience, with a draw if demand exceeds 300 runners.

Late August around Mont-Blanc can bring anything. The valleys (Chamonix about 1,035 m, Courmayeur about 1,220 m) often see 20–30 °C days, while the passes above 2,000 m can drop below freezing at night, and the organizers warn of temperatures down to −10 °C, with rain, hail or snow possible. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, and weather can force course changes or delays. PTL teams spend up to six nights out, some of it near 3,000 m.
The 2026 route topped out near 3,200 m (Col de By)
Several nights in the high mountains; a sleeping bag or liner is mandatory
